Das Industriedenkmal KIESWERK hat eine belebte Geschichte.

Das KIESWERK war die erste Transport-Betonmischanlage in der Region Basiliensis. In den 1920er Jahren wurde sie als Herz der damaligen Kiesgrube in Betrieb genommen. Bis 1996 war die auf Stahlstelzen stehende Anlage in Betrieb.

Zur Landesgartenschau "Grün99" wurde das Gebäude mit dem surealen Erscheinungsbild unter Denkmalschutz gestellt und von dem Architekten Prof. Thomas Spiegelhalter aus Freiburg für Publikum begehbar gemacht.

2oo1 übernahm ich das Gebäude und baute es zum KUNSTRAUM KIESWERK. Im Respekt vor dem Gebäude wurde es nutzbar gemacht und dadurch vor dem Zusammenbruch geschützt. Der Prozess des Aus- und Umbaus ist längst nicht

abgeschlossen. Es wurden Atelier- und Ausstellungsräume geschaffen und die vier Silos zu Wohnräumen umgestaltet. 

Im unteren Bereich entstand eine Kulturbühne und eine temporäre Bar. Das frühere Kiesmagazin wurde als "Crypta" begehbar gemacht und dient ebenfalls als Ausstellungsraum. 2012 entstand der Kunstschutzbunker.

 In den unterschiedlichen Räumlichkeiten können wir verschiedene Events in Zusammenhang mit unserer Kunst für Sie organiesieren.

The industrial monument Kieswerk has a lively history.

It was the first pre-mixed concrete factory in the Basel region.

In the 1920s it was established at the heart of the then gravel pits.

The steel stilt- supported depot remained in service until 1996. For the garden festival "Grün99" the building, with its surreal appearance became a protected building and was converted for public access by the architect Prof. Thomas Spiegelhalter of Freiburg.

In 2001 i took the building over and established the "Kunstraum Kieswerk"(Art Space). The building was respectfully renovated and this saved from the deterisvation. The process of conversionis on going. Studios and exhibition rooms have been createdand four concret silos converted into living space. In the surrounding space stands an outdoor stage and an occasional bar. The former gravel store is now accessible as an exhibition space and is known as the "Crypt". 2012 saw the erection of the "Kunstschutzbunker" (art shelter).

The different spaces are available to hire for cultural ebvents and speciel occasions.
